The Chamber's Last Friday Lunches offer another form of networking. These lunches are held on the last Friday of each month (not surprisingly!) unless there is another major lunch event already planned for the same month.

The charity raffle held at the event raised £465 and the first prize ticket holder, Geoff Smith, (who played in the D K Poynter & Co team), also selected the charity to benefit - Sussex Air Ambulance. Geoff said "I supported this charity before it arrived as a spin-off from Kent. Sussex needed its own air ambulance and I am proud to have supported such a worthy charity that helps people when they are most vulnerable and in need of help fast and, often, in remote areas that can’t be accessed easily".
Sussex Air Ambulance relies almost entirely on public donations and they expressed extreme gratitude to the business community of Eastbourne for their support.

Held at The Cavendish Hotel, Grand Parade, Eastbourne, this very popular event was enjoyed by 224 Members and guests.
The two charities nominated to receive proceeds of the raffle, which raised £1260, were British Heart Foundation nominated by Neil Hadley of Lloyds TBS, and West Rise Junior School Bronze Age Project nominated by Bob Lacey OBE, Business Consultant.
ANNUAL TEN PIN BOWLING TOURNAMENT -
for the Manor Creative Shield
New Bowling Champions
One could think that Ten Pin Bowling may be a strange event for a business organisation to organise, but it is one of the cornerstones of the varied programme of events offered by Eastbourne & District Chamber of Commerce Ltd (EDCC) to the membership.
The annual competition was held on Monday 9th November at Lloyds Lanes when all 20 lanes were booked by the Chamber for this highly competitive evening. Such is the intensity and the will to win, that it was rumoured that some teams had actually been practising, though others realised their limitations and took part purely to enjoy the evening.
The Manor Creative shield was won by a team from KPSS Goldwells with a combined score for the two games of 1579. They were closely followed by Manor Creative whose score of 1557 so nearly won them their own shield. Eastbourne Homes (last year’s winners ) scored 1539.
The highest overall scorer was Nigel Targett, playing with the Goldwell team, with an amazing score of 370, whilst Mike Tutt from Manor Creative had the highest individual score for one game with 208. Our congratulations to everyone who took part for making the event yet another successful event, regardless of their final scores. For many, the important part of the event is just enjoying the evening and just networking with other Members of the Chamber.
When the hard-fought competition was over and after everyone had enjoyed a buffet supper, Chamber Director Nicky Fisher of Herron Fisher welcomed everybody to Lloyds Lanes before announcing the results. She and Paul Denne (Manor Creative) then presented the shield to the Goldwell’s winning team. Next year’s completion is already in the Chamber’s diary and will be held on Monday 14th November 2011

140 Members enjoyed an excellent lunch and cream tea at the Eastbourne Centre, Grand Parade with prime viewing of the wonderful flying displays of Eastbourne's Airbourne Event.
A number of members had generously donated raffle prizes for the occasion and the grand sum of more than £700 was raised and divided between Airbourne and St Wilfrid's Hospice.
ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT

This year the competion for the Chamber Golf Trophy was held on Friday 11th June at Seaford Golf Club (Blatchington). Starting with breakfast from 11.30am, there was a two tee start from 1pm.
68 Golfers took part and the Eastbourne Chamber Trophy was won by the Sussex Downs College Team.
Proceeds of the evening raffle -£555.00 - for a charity chosen by one of the golfers went
to St Wilfrid's Hospice.
Frances Lewis a Director from St Wilfrid’s Hospice said
‘This donation could not be better timed. With excitement continuing to grow around the proposed new site on which to build the much needed new Hospice, in these economic times funding of the specialist services St Wilfrid’s provides has never been more challenging. On behalf of all the patients and staff at the hospice may I extend our sincerest thanks to everyone who participated in the golf day and of course to all the members of the Eastbourne Chamber of Commerce'.
